Donald Trump has been one the most prominent news fixtures in America over the last decade. The multi-billionaire business tycoon has remained a hot topic of debate and news coverage across the nation and the world — especially after entering his second term in office in 2025. From trying to eliminate the penny to causing massive jumps in the price of cars, Trump seems to never not be in the spotlight. While his vast real estate empire, which includes the notorious Mar-A-Lago golf resort in Palm Beach, Florida and extends to various Trump Tower locations across the world, are often highly discussed alongside his policy decisions, another recognizable piece of property worthy of attention is Trump's private jet.

Otherwise known as Trump Force One, this private jet could be seen flying all around the nation during the campaign trail in 2024. That said, if you've ever wondered how much it really costs to buy a private jet, then you'll likely experience sticker shock at the price of Trump's aircraft which he reportedly paid $100 million for.

Trump's private jet is a Boeing 757 with a customized interior. While this type of jet stopped being produced in 2003 due to Boeing's development of superior airplane models, it is still commonly flown as commercial airplanes for Delta, United, and American Airlines, to name a few. That said, Donald Trump originally purchased his Boeing 757 some time around 2010 from Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. Despite the widely reported purchase price of $100 million, many industry experts insist Trump significantly overpaid for the aircraft. 

Plus, the costs didn't end there, as Trump then paid another $250,000 to redecorate the entire interior of his newly purchased jet. This remodeling left an interior capable of seating up to 43 people,  in addition to a main lounge with a theatre system, a dining area, 3 different bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms.  According to Boeing 757 specifications, the plane is able to fly up to 3915 nautical miles before needing to be refueled, and according to Global Air, the annual operating costs for the plane can easily exceed $5 million.

The cost of Trump's customized Boeing 757 is far beyond the average cost of your typical private plane. Of course, at roughly $5 billion dollars, according to Forbes, Trump is worth far beyond the average net worth of people who own a private jet, which according to the Institute for Policy Studies is between $140 and $190 million dollars.

Generally speaking there's a pretty wide price margin when it comes to private jets. This is due to factors such as different sizes, makes, and even models of planes. Similarly, whether a buyer choose to purchase a jet new or used. According to Bankrate, light jets, which hold a maximum of seven passengers, start at a minimum of roughly $6 million dollars for new models, while used ones can be purchased for around $4 million. At the same time, while a brand new mid-sized jet can cost as much as $30 million, certain older used models can cost as little as $2.5 million dollars. However, top of the line, heavy jets can range anywhere from $15 million to $75 million or more, while purchasing a full commercial airliner similar to Trump's plane can cost as much as $440 million dollars.
